Windward Community College Library and Learning Center
Windward Community College Library and Learning center project included demolition of an existing building and a new 70,000 SF building. The new building is a concrete and steel structure with CMU and steel stud. The project incorporated some materials from the existing building into the new building. The library is integrated with technology and media creation, tutoring, testing, and other campus services in a flowing, flexible design. Special features on three floors include breakout spaces in common areas for collaborative learning, an electronic classroom, new media lab, Hawaiian Collection Room, and a coffee shop. The building is designed to reduce energy consumption, water use and waste with the goal of attaining a LEED silver certification.
