Tacoma Convention Center Marriott Hotel
The $126M Tacoma Convention Center Marriott hotel includes new construction of a 23-story, 304 room hotel totaling 452,00 SF with 6 floors above-grade parking, to accommodate 534 vehicles. The facility features a 10,000 SF Grand Ballroom, 9,000 SF of meeting rooms, restaurant, pool and spa.
The new hotel connects to the existing Greater Tacoma Convention Center. To prepare to build adjacent to this active facility, we demolished an existing one-story garage and re-configured entry into the Convention Center’s garage as the previous entry is now in the hotel’s footprint. Building in downtown Tacoma was challenging due to a major aquifer running under the site; extensive contaminated soil removal; and building within eight inches of the circa 1909 Carlton Building.
