YMCA Everett
This $23.9M YMCA of Everett project involved new construction of a 57,900 SF recreation and aquatic center. The project features a natatorium, gymnasium, wellness areas, daycare, locker room, changing areas and three pools. Additional site work included landscaping, hardscaping, irrigation, sidewalks and surface parking. The project was constructed to achieve LEED Silver certification.
The universal (family) locker room is immediately off of the pool deck and features a deluge shower that essentially works like a car wash, allowing a parent to take a child in and rinse them off without getting wet themselves. A swimmer enters the deluge shower and a parent can push a button outside of a partial wall (allowing them to supervise their child) which activates an overhead and side jet shower spray. YMCA President Scott Washburn dreamed up the “car wash” experience to be completed with an air blower at the end of the shower to dry kids off. Kids walk out under a blast of warm air to dry them before moving into the changing area.
