Alaska Airlines Two-Step Ticketing Facility
This $14.6M renovation project at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport converted Alaska Airline’s previous ticketing system to a more automated two-step process with self-serve kiosks and bag-check stations. The 24,389 SF project included complete reconfiguration of the ticketing area and baggage-handling system, along with renovation and reconfiguration of secure administrative offices on the floor above. All work was done while maintaining uninterrupted operations and airport security standards.
Absher provided a tailored preconstruction services program, working in concert with Alaska Airlines and Port of Seattle representatives to address the numerous complexities of the keeping the ticketing and baggage-handling systems operational while maintaining airport security standards. At the schematic drawing stage, our team provided constructability reviews, milestone estimates, scheduling, and coordination with the Port of Seattle and third-party contractors. We also provided exploratory survey work to provide as-built information to the design team. Our team’s highly detailed phasing plan included beginning construction before all documents were completed, in order to maintain a very tight schedule and to avoid affecting the Airline’s busiest travel period.
